How to use the Revenue Tracker - Practice Hub

Track revenue against targets and prior years across your practices with the pre-built Revenue Tracker dashboard.

Written by Lily Hunt

The Revenue Tracker is a pre-built dashboard in the Practice Hub that brings your key revenue analysis together in one place. It comes ready-loaded with revenue tiles comparing this year's performance against your targets and the two previous years — no setup required.

You'll find it under My Dashboards in the left-hand menu.

What's on the dashboard

The Revenue Tracker opens with seven system tiles:

Tile

Reading the charts

Each chart plots four lines so you can see performance in context at a glance:

  • Target (blue) — your target for the current year

  • Achieved Revenue (red) — actual revenue for the current year to date

  • Previous year (green) and the year before (purple) — for like-for-like comparison

Hover over any point to see the exact values for that month. Click a series in the legend to show or hide it.

💡 Tip: The target lines are driven by your KPI targets. If a target line shows zero, see How to add KPI Targets to MPC Custom Dashboards.

Filtering by practice

By default the Revenue Tracker shows All practices combined. To focus on one or more practices:

  1. Click the All practices dropdown in the toolbar.

  2. Search for or select the practices you want to include.

  3. Click Apply. Every tile updates to reflect your selection.

Adding more tiles

Click Add Tile to open the tile library. From here you can:

  • Search for a tile by name

  • Filter by category — Attendance, Financial, Patient Care, Treatment Coordination or Utilisation

  • Click any tile to add it to the dashboard

Tiles already on the dashboard are greyed out and marked Already added.

The library includes KPI tiles such as Diary Utilisation, Unpaid Invoices, Fail to Attend, Cancellations, Income and Whitespace (Forward Cover), plus two further full-width analysis tiles that complement the revenue view:

  • Practice Hours Utilisation Analysis — total variable hours vs booked vs worked across the past 12 months

  • Potential Revenue Opportunity Analysis — potential revenue opportunity based on your available hours and current performance

Managing tiles

Hover over any tile to reveal its controls:

  • Use the drag handle (top left) to rearrange tiles

  • Click the expand icon to view a tile full screen

  • Click the menu to View Data behind the chart, resize the tile (Small, Standard or Large), or Remove it from the dashboard

Saving, loading and exporting

  • Save — once you've customised the dashboard, click Save to keep your layout

  • Load — open a previously saved dashboard

  • New — start a fresh dashboard from scratch

  • Export — download a copy of the dashboard to share outside MPC

Commonly asked questions

Why is my Capitation Revenue tile empty? Capitation revenue relies on your plan values being set up. See How to set up Capitation Dental Plan Net Monthly Values.

Why can't I see the UDAs Claimed tile? UDAs apply to NHS England practices only. Scottish and Northern Irish practices see their own NHS revenue and capitation analysis tiles instead.

Can I build my own dashboard instead? Yes — the Revenue Tracker is one of the pre-built dashboards. To build your own from scratch, see How to Create Your Own Custom Dashboards.

My data looks out of date — what should I do? See What to do if my data is not up to date.
