The Whitespace feature tile helps you easily identify with a visual graph unblocked time in the appointment diary not associated with patient appointments.
These gaps between appointments that can impact productivity, overall diary utilisation and revenue. This report highlights those gaps so your team can better optimise the available hours.

Where to find the Whitespace tile
Go to My Dashboards on the main navigation menu.
Select Custom Dashboards.
Select Manage feature selection in the configuration area.
Click on the Whitespace tile ensuring it goes on the selected features header.
Press Return to Dashboard.
The tile will now display on your own personalised dashboard.
Remember to click Save Dashboard as new template to use your dashboard in the future.
What the Report Shows
Two key metrics are included.
Whitespace % excluding unblocked diaries
Whitespace % excluding the hours from appointment diaries which have no booked appointment hours. The Whitespace % is calculated as Hours Whitespace/Hours Available as a percentage.
βHours Whitespace excluding unblocked diaries
The total number of unblocked hours in the appointment diary for this period which were not associated with appointments. Excludes whitespace hours from days which have no booked appointment hours.
π Please note: Cancelled appointments are currently considered as whitespace but failed appointments are not.
By clicking into the data points on the graph you can drill down at practice level, if you have access to more than 1 practice, you will be able to see all practices like below-
Click into the bar graph for the practice you can then see the whitespace hours at provider level as this opens our Appointment Analysis by Period Report.
π‘ Tips for Reducing Whitespace Hours
Use the Action Today Dashboard to regularly run recalls due without appointment booked, Open COTs without appointment, lapsed patients, FTAs and cancelled appointments without a future appointment.
Review the whitespace hours tile on the Practice Management Dashboard to show providers who are owning the most whitespace for the next 7 days.
Bring patient appointments forward if you can.
Enable automated appointment reminders on your practice management software.
Review appointment diaries weekly to ensure they are set up accurately.
