Using MAC AI Assistant

How to ask questions and get insights using MAC AI

What is MAC?

MAC is the AI assistant built into MPC Explorer that helps you quickly explore your data by asking questions in plain English.

Instead of manually configuring reports, you can ask MAC simple questions about your data and it will generate a report or chart automatically.

MAC is designed to make reporting faster and easier, particularly when you want quick answers without building a report from scratch.

Why is it called MAC?

MAC is named in honour of Mario Augusto Cataldo (MAC), one of the original founders of My Practice Cloud who sadly passed away in 2022.

Mario played a central role in shaping the company and the assistant is named after him as a tribute to his contribution to MPC.

How to Use MAC

  1. You will see some starter questions on the MPC Explorer landing page or click the MAC AI Assistant button in the bottom-right corner of MPC Explorer.

  2. Type your question into the chat box.

  3. Press Enter to submit your request.

MAC will generate a report based on your question and also provide answers or insights where possible.

Example Questions

MAC currently works best with clear, structured questions like the examples below.

Examples you can try:

Show me revenue for implants by month for the last 6 months

Show me hours available by month for the last 6 months

Which practice had the most revenue for crowns in the last 3 months?

Which provider had the most patients cancelled last month?

Which practice had the highest FTA rate this year?

How many total registered patients did we have last month?

These examples are also shown on the Explorer home screen to help you get started.

Viewing the Results as a Chart

Once MAC generates a report you can ask:

“Show this as a chart”

MAC will automatically generate an appropriate visualisation for the report.

Current Limitations

MAC is still actively improving and currently works best with questions similar to the examples shown above.

At the moment:

• MAC may not understand complex or multi-part questions

• Some advanced filtering or breakdown requests may not work yet

• MAC may occasionally ask for clarification if it cannot interpret your request

If a question doesn’t work, try rephrasing it using a similar structure to the example questions.

Tips for Best Results

✓ Keep questions clear and specific

✓ Include a time period where possible (e.g. last month, last 6 months, this year)

✓ Start with simple queries similar to the example questions

✓ Use similar terminology for shown in the KPI Library

MAC will continue to improve over time as we expand its capabilities.

📝 Please note: MAC is powered by a locally hosted AI model, meaning your data never leaves the MPC environment. We do not send data to external providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
