πŸ“ Please note: This report is coming soon for Dentally users.

This report is specific to the NHS England and Wales and summarises data from NHS Courses of Treatment (COTs) for the selected practices within the specified date range.

Data is presented separately for each practice and further broken down by NHS contract number. Each section is split into two parts: Delivery Indicators and Quality Indicators.

The Delivery Indicators section displays UDA totals for the reporting period. By default, totals are shown at the practice level; however, values for individual providers can be viewed by expanding the row using the '+' icon at the beginning of each line.

  • Provider: the specific provider code (based on all COTs completed by that provider)

  • UDAs Claimed: the total number of UDAs claimed within the period for all COTs completed by that provider;

  • UDAs Verified: the total number of UDAs verified/confirmed within the period for all COTs completed by that provider;

  • Contract Target: the overall UDA contract target assigned to the provider within the contract for the current contract period (usually 1st April - 31st March), given as a number of UDAs that the provider needs to achieve within this contract period;

  • % Delivered - Claimed: shows UDAs Claimed / Contract Target as a percentage

  • % Delivered - Verified: shows UDAs Verified / Contract Target as a percentage

The Quality Indicators section displays values for the selected quality metrics. By default, totals are shown at the practice level, but figures for individual providers can be viewed by expanding the '+' icon at the start of each row.

A Quality Indicator represents a summary measure for a specific type of treatment during the selected period, typically shown as a percentage. For example, the Radiographs Rate indicates the percentage of COTs in the period that included radiographs, as recorded on the FP17 form.

Each Quality Indicator row includes the following fields: Quality Indicator row:

  • Applies To: shows whether the Quality Indicator applies to all patients (All) or a subset (e.g. Children aged 3-16);

  • Provider: the specific provider code (based on all COTs completed by that provider);

  • Claims with Item (Quantity): For all COTs completed within the report period, indicates the number of COTs that have the characteristic specified by the specific Quality Indicator;

  • All Claims (Base Number): Indicates the total number of COTs completed within the report period that meet the 'Applies To' criteria;

  • Underperformance vs Comparison: shows whether underperformance for this particular Quality Indicator is determined by the calculated Contract value being Above or Below the comparison value;

  • Contract: The value of this Quality Indicator for this contract (and provider if a provider specific row is being viewed), and will show Claims with Item / All Claims, as a percentage;

  • Comparison with: This column will show the Area Team, Country or Group Target value that the 'Contract' value will be compared to;

  • Difference: shows Contract - Comparison with;

  • Tolerance: An amount by which the Contract value can be above or below the 'Comparison with' value before triggering a red flag warning. This is calculated based on the size of the contract - smaller contracts will have larger tolerances (more variation allowed), whereas larger contracts will have smaller tolerance values;

  • Area Team: The value for this Quality Indicator for the practice's Local Area Team. Must be maintained by the practice group users, under Settings > DAF Indicators;

  • Country: The national average value for this Quality Indicator. Maintained by MPC;

  • Group Target: the value for this Quality Indicator for the group. Must be maintained by the practice group users, under Settings > DAF Indicators;

Parameters

The report parameters are:

  • Date range: Defines the reporting period. Completed COTs with the completion or acceptance date in the given start/end date are included

  • Practices: allows selection of all or specific practices within the practice group

  • Show comparison with area team/country/group target: Specifies what value will be used to compare the quality indicator 'contract' value against, in terms of determining underperformance ('red flag')

  • Indicators: allows selection of all Quality Indicators, or specific ones only (e.g. Radiographs Rate)

  • Contract Value Filter: Allows the report results to be filtered as follows:

    • None: no additional filtering is applied

    • Contract Outside: only show Quality Indicators for a particular contract if the 'Contract' field indicates underperformance at the practice level, i.e. shows red

    • Contract or Provider Outside: only show Quality Indicators for a particular contract if the 'Contract' field indicates underperformance at either the practice level or for a particular provider

  • Dentist: allow selection of all or specific dentists (providers). Be aware that if this filter is used with specific dentists (i.e. not all), then the report will only show data for the selected dentists, and so the totals will not reflect the overall practice totals
