What is a lapsed patient?

A lapsed patient is a patient who has not had a completed service code in the last 24 months and is not marked as inactive in your practice management software.

In other words, the patient record is still active but they have not attended for treatment within the past 24 months, making them a patient at risk of leaving the practice if not contacted.

The New Lapsed Patients tile on the Action Today Dashboard provides a quick view of patient activity, showing:

  • Patients who lapsed last month

  • Patients due to lapse in the current and next month

πŸ’‘ Top tip: Lapsed patients are often the focus of recall and reactivation campaigns to help bring them back for treatment and maintain patient continuity.

Click on the numbers in the tile to drill down into the Active Patients in Period Report, which shows the transition of your patient base across NHS, Private, and Plan payors.

πŸ’‘ Top tip: Click on the blue numbers to drill down further into Patient Details.
