This guide explains how to add and manage NHS UDA (Units of Dental Activity) Targets and Values for England and Wales NHS practices. Setting your targets allows you to:
See reliable forecasts against contract targets
Identify under- or over-performance early
Reduce the risk of costly clawbacks due to shortfalls
🚨 Important: Only users with admin rights can set targets.
How to Add NHS UDA Contracts at Practice Level
Click the settings cog in the top-right corner.
Select Practice Admin Manager.
Select Practice Set Up.
Click NHS UDA Targets and Values from the list.
The NHS UDA Targets Summary page will load. Before setting targets, configure user permissions:
Click User Permissions (green button).
Select the user's name and email from the Users in Group dropdown.
Select Manage: NHS UDA Targets/Values from the Available Permissions dropdown.
Click Submit to save.
The practices will be listed with their NHS UDA contract numbers. Click Edit/View Detail under Action for the practice you want to update.
The NHS UDA Targets Detail page will appear.
Input the annual contract target under Contract Target.
Input the individual UDA rate under UDA/UOA Value (£).
The total annual contract value is calculated automatically: Contract Target × UDA/UOA Value (£).
How to Add NHS UDA Contracts at Provider Level
Once the practice-level contract is set up, assign UDA targets at the provider level to track individual clinician performance:
From the NHS UDA Targets Detail page, scroll to the Provider Details section.
For each provider, enter their individual target in the Provider Target field.
Click Save changes to confirm.
How to Track UDA Progress
Once targets are set, use these reports to monitor performance regularly:
NHS UDAs by Period — track contract completion against target over a selected date range
NHS UDA Detail by Provider — view performance at the individual clinician level
Practice Management Dashboard (UDA tile) — high-level view of current UDA performance across your practices
